Background of the Study
Economic empowerment programs are designed to improve the financial independence and social status of women, potentially influencing their capacity to participate in political processes. In Makurdi, Benue State, several initiatives aimed at empowering women economically have been launched in recent years. This study seeks to examine how these programs have impacted women’s political participation, especially in local governance, by fostering leadership skills, increasing confidence, and providing financial resources necessary for political campaigns and activities.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the numerous economic empowerment programs targeting women in Makurdi, their actual influence on women’s political participation remains under-explored.
